Orthodontic braces, made of metal or ceramic, have been used for decades to straighten teeth. In recent years, advances in orthodontic treatment have resulted in braces that are low-profile, more comfortable and easier to care for.
From lower-profile options such as ceramic and lingual braces to traditional metal braces, Dr. Sam will help you to choose the best orthodontic treatment option for you or your kids.
With Invisalign clear aligners, your smile is gradually straightened using a series of individually customized, clear plastic aligners that are adjusted over a period of time.
Invisalign clear aligners offer a convenience factor – they are removable for when you'd prefer no one know that you are straightening your teeth.
Similar in appearance to custom whitening trays, they are easy to insert. You can even remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss!
The TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull. It lets you move your jaw up and down and side to side so you can talk and eat.
TMJ Disorder (TMD) occurs when there are issues with your jaw and associated muscles. TMD often leads to symptoms such as neck and jaw pain, headaches and ringing in the ears. If left untreated, it can lead to chronic pain, bone loss, gum tissue changes and loose teeth.
At Driftwood Dental we can test for, diagnose and provide a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder. Treatment may include wearing a mouth guard for sleep to prevent clenching and grinding, relaxation techniques, physical therapy, or a TENS machine (an electrical stimulus device) to encourage the face and jaw muscles to relax.
Orthodontic treatment may be required to correct underlying misalignment issues. Dr. Sam will work with you to create a treatment plan to address your specific needs.
